Foundation Enablement: Intermediate APM | Datadog

About This Session

This session will build upon the knowledge shared in the Introduction to APM enablement session. It will cover several topics to deepen your understanding of the APM product. You will learn more about the lifecycle of spans inside Datadog. Furthermore, you will learn how to perform custom instrumentation and how to stop and send your own traces to Datadog.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the flow of how spans are ingested, sampled, retained, and analyzed.
  • Identify appropriate use cases for creating custom metrics from span data.
  • Outline how to perform custom instrumentation on your application code, including how to create custom spans or traces.
  • Synthesize how Datadog can provide a richer understanding of application performance by correlating data from different product suites, such as Logs, Real User Monitoring (RUM), and Application Security Management (ASM).
