It’s no secret that communication is the key to rapid incident response. To put out smoldering fires before they become full-blown conflagrations, you need everyone in the same room, with access to the same information. And if your ops “room” is a Campfire chat room, Datadog can help your team share information and get to the bottom of performance issues quickly. (HipChat and Slack users, we’ve got you covered, too.)
Our new Campfire integration brings Datadog alerts and events directly to your chat rooms. All you have to do is mention @campfire-room_name in Datadog to send alerts or share graphs and comments with your team.
Keep everyone up-to-date on performance problems
When you’re fixing a pressing production issue, nothing is more distracting than having to field questions left and right about what’s going on. The Campfire integration provides a simple way to keep everyone on the same page. Simply mention @campfire-room_name from the Datadog stream to update the entire team.
Share Datadog graphs with your team
Click the camera icon on any Timeboard graph to share a snapshot with your team.
Then @mention your team’s chat room and add some context to help your colleagues understand what you’re seeing.
The graph, and your comment, will show up in your Campfire room, instantly updating everyone on the latest developments.
Automatically send your alerts to Campfire
If you want Datadog to send alerts directly to Campfire, simply add the chat room to the notification list of any alert or @mention the room in the body of the alert message. Your room will be notified the next time the alert triggers, and Datadog will automatically post the relevant snapshot to Campfire as well.
If you already have a Datadog account, you can set up the Campfire integration and start discussing your performance problems with your team in about 60 seconds. And if you aren’t using Datadog yet, you can try it for free for 14 days.
