We’re happy to announce Dash 2020, which marks the third year of Datadog’s conference on building and scaling the next generation of applications, infrastructure, and technical teams. This year, in light of recent circumstances, Dash will be a virtual, free event, taking place on Tuesday, August 11.

What to expect at the new, virtual Dash

Although Dash is moving online, its mission remains unchanged. Dash will continue to bring together our global community around the common goals of taking their teams, organizations, and infrastructure to the next level of performance, reliability, and scale.

This year, you can experience all that Dash has to offer from the comfort of your own home. Listen to breakout sessions about lessons learned and get the scoop on exciting new product releases. Afterward, if you wish to extend and enhance your Dash experience, you can also opt to attend workshops to build practical skills in areas ranging from logs to distributed tracing.

You’ll also be able to schedule office hours with Datadog engineers and product managers, and meetings with partners and other attendees. Through these video sessions, you can get to know your fellow peers, receive advice for overcoming technical or organizational challenges, and browse digital booths to explore new technologies and platforms.

Last year’s Dash

At Dash 2019, Datadog CTO and co-founder Alexis Lê-Quôc explained the impetus for developing Datadog’s newest features—specifically, a desire to bring transparency to increasingly complex cloud environments. Google Cloud’s Aparna Sinha shared a behind-the-scenes peek at how the company builds resilient systems that can operate at any scale. Datadog also introduced network performance monitoring and other new products and features.

Participants also attended breakout sessions featuring firsthand knowledge from their peers. Flatiron Health’s Bonnie Rhee spoke of the obstacles and triumphs her team faced while building in-house tooling for developers. Shopify’s Jason Hiltz-Laforge shared tips for scaling and managing teams across offices and time zones. And Comcast’s Rob Jefferson dispensed helpful, hard-won advice on building and running a private cloud.

In addition to these talks, guests also attended hands-on interactive workshops on topics ranging from Kubernetes to serverless—and even engaged in a dash of friendly competition at the IoT-equipped bowling lanes. To wrap it all up, Dash attendees mingled on an exclusive yacht featuring live music, an open bar serving tropical fruit cocktails, and even an AR/VR exhibit.

How it works

Dash 2020 will be an online event, so you can join us directly from your mobile device or laptop. Register now to get free access to keynotes, breakout sessions, and virtual networking opportunities.

Over the course of the weeks following Dash, Datadog will host virtual workshops on topics ranging from autoscaling Kubernetes to building serverless microservices. Workshops will cost $75 each, with a portion of the proceeds going toward COVID-19 relief efforts.

If you already purchased tickets for Dash, you’ll automatically be registered for the online experience. Current ticket holders can opt for a full refund, or choose to apply their funds toward any workshop(s) they wish to attend.

Now that Dash 2020 is a global online event, we’re excited to welcome an even more diverse array of attendees from all over the world. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to learn about new platforms and technologies, connect with peers, and bring back relevant insights to apply to your own applications and teams.

As we draw closer to the conference, we will regularly update the Dash website with more information on the agenda, from featured speakers to the latest workshops. We look forward to seeing you (virtually) on August 11!
