Datadog Certification

Datadog is the cloud-native monitoring and security platform for infrastructure, applications, logs, and more. Datadog helps businesses secure their systems, avoid downtime, and ensure customers are getting the best user experience. Datadog's certification program strives to identify individuals who possess a deep understanding of installing, configuring, and using Datadog's products.

We are excited to announce that we will be transitioning to a new certification exam vendor. This transition is scheduled to begin on 1/1/25.

Please be aware that there will be a blackout period from January 1st, 2025, to the end of January 2025. During this time, candidates will not be able to register for any Datadog Certification Exams.

If you have already registered for an exam that is to take place after December 31, 2024, we will communicate with you to reschedule it.

Overview

Datadog Fundamentals

Datadog Fundamentals is our foundational certification offering. This exam tests core knowledge required to use the platform effectively. Knowledge covered includes basic computer fundamentals, infrastructure deployment with Datadog, networking and Datadog Agent configuration, data collection, troubleshooting the Datadog Agent, and data visualization and utilization.

Log Management Fundamentals

Datadog’s Introductory Log Management exam tests base knowledge of logging and log management with Datadog. This exam covers logging fundamentals, log collection, log parsing, log searching and filtering, log analysis, log utilization, and log troubleshooting with Datadog.

APM and Distributed Tracing Fundamentals

Datadog’s Introductory APM exam tests base knowledge of the APM product. This exam covers APM fundamentals, application instrumentation with Datadog, insight discovery with Datadog APM, visualizing insights, and troubleshooting applications using APM.

APM and Log Management Fundamentals are currently only offered in English.

Observability is core to running modern infrastructure and applications. Achieving certification in this program validates your knowledge of the Datadog platform and features examined. This signals to peers and employers that you have practiced competency in the industry’s leading observability platform and have demonstrated you are proficient at applying that knowledge.

After passing the examination you should check your email for a verified badge from Credly. This 3rd party verified achievement can be shared across various networks to show off your achievement to your peers.

Each exam costs $100.

Each exam consists of 90 multiple choice questions with a total seat time of 120 minutes (2 hours).

Each certification is valid for 3 years.

Anyone is eligible for any of the currently available examinations. We recommend starting with Datadog Fundamentals.

  • A candidate can have any number of attempts until they pass the exam.
  • If the Candidate fails the first time, they can attempt the examination 2 more times within 180 days of the first attempt date.
  • If the candidate does not pass on the 3rd or subsequent attempts, they must wait 180 days before taking the exam again.
  • Only No Call No Show Absence is considered an attempt in absence.
